📍 Departs from Chiang Mai (mountain villages north of the city)
A five-day guided adventure up into the northern hills to meet remote hill-tribe communities, with jungle walking, overnight village homestays, waterfalls and river crossings. Run by SGTrek — advance booking required. A great way to get well off the tourist trail during the green season, when the mountains are at their most lush and the rivers are full.

Thailand marks the birthday of HM Queen Mother Sirikit on 12 August, which is also National Mother’s Day and a public holiday. Expect national flags and royal portraits across the city, morning merit-making and alms-giving at temples, and an evening candle-lighting tribute ceremony — in Chiang Mai this is typically held at the Three Kings Monument. Many attractions offer free or discounted entry for mothers.
